Does anybody know what the difference is between these two, as far as I can tell there isn't any besides looks.

Thanks!

I may be wrong but I was told the only difference is in the casing and band.

Is metal casing really worth $400?

Chad

Apart from the good looks I think the only actual difference is the Stinger has a more frequent memory sampling rate than the Mosquito.

Is $400 the price difference or the total cost of the Stinger? Over here you can get a Stinger for £245 and the Mosquito is £225, approx $30 difference.

I believe that the Stinger is going for about $800 at my LDS and the Mossy for about $400. But it has been awhile since I was looking.

Chad

Confirm freediving is on Stinger. You may have guessed that I use a Stinger and really like it.

Neil

here you have all the differences on the computers
http://www.suunto.com/worlds/diving/img/suunto_techfeat.pdf

I use the mosquito since it suits me better (free dive mode + other things)

One could talk abit of the PC interface though

The interface for the mosquito is the same interface as for the cobra and the vyper. It is realy not that good to fit on the mosquito however a plastic cup makes alot of difference on the fitting of the interface (suggestion presented to suunto but we will se what happens the answer was: Not a bad idea)

the stinger has its own type of interface and fits nicely on the stinger ;-)
(a buddy has a stinger)

And also the stinger looks much nicer ! but you cant change battery yourself.

Happy diving

The Mosquito has a Free-diving mode, while the Stinger has a Gauge mode, the difference being that, if you take both on a dive, after a certain period, the Mosquito will show "Er", thinking you're on an unusually long free-dive. The Stinger is a pure Gauge mode, i.e., depth and time information.
