Is there a velcro replacement for the Suunto Mosquito strap? I find it annoying having two buckles to adjust and can't seem to get the right combination. Keep in mind, I've only used it on my OW certification dives so far, but the strap extension just seems like a bad idea. Does anyone have a work-around or suggestion for this?

I also own the mosquito - but don't dive dry (yet) so this is not a problem for me. I did think the two buckle system was a little hokey though. I'm interested to see if anyone has a good solution to this.

I actually found a replacement from Suunto. They have wrist straps and a neck lanyard that I am going to try. I thought the lanyard would be cool if I mounted it to my BCD... That way I wouldn't have to remove the computer when I take of my wetsuit, etc. I'll let you know how it works out.

Is there a way you could rig some 1/8" bungee cord with the mosquito? That's what I'm doing with my Vyper. Much more reliable and way easier to get on over gloved hands, plus it gives you the added benefit of compensation for suit compression at depth. Lost Yooper posted some pics on another post demonstrating how to rig it up.

Hmmm, that could have saved me some dough if I could have figured it out... I think the Vyper might be a little more forgiving than the smaller Mosquito however. Not sure if the wrist straps are the same or not. I like the lanyard idea in theory, can't wait to try it out in real life.

I got my Mosquito strap replacement parts today... here are the results:

I can't figure out how to work the wrist strap, so I can't comment on that yet.

The neck lanyard is sweet! Triple velcro protection to secure the computer, pluse C-Clips to replace the existing band. The C-Clips mount on the Mosquito very nicely and are used to secure the lanyard. I'd imagine you could use them to hold 1/8" bungee as well, which I might try later. I can't wait to try this configuration. If I ever get around to it I'll take some pics, but until then here's a so you can at least see the neck lanyard. (Note, I will not be wearing this around my neck, but securing it to my BC.)

If you figure out the strap let me know. I was looking for something but with the strap screwing on I couldn't find anything to replace it with.

I've had my Mosquito for about a year now, and really like it, both as a watch and as a backup dive computer. What I don't like is the wrist strap. I'm at the third hole from the end on bare skin, forget about using it with a wet or dry suit. My thoughts on the expansion strap would get me banned from the board if I expressed them here.

Has anyone come up with anything that will work reliably and still look half way decent for use as a watch. The biggest problem is the watch connection to the band is so different from everything else out there.

I considered using velcro, but I don't really trust it to stay in place given the cost involved.

The lanyard also doesn't appeal to me at all.

Have you looked at the Waterborne straps?

The issue is figuring out how to make it work with the silly Mosquito. The issue is the space for the strap is too narrow for the width of the strap. I've thought about cutting the strap to make it narrower, but I'm not too sure how well that will work.

That's what I'll probably end up doing unless I find something else that works better.

The velcro strap looks interesting as well.

Thanks for the thought of looking there, I wouldn't have known about the velcro version which has a narrower band.
