I have a Morphos Twin BCD that has a broken plastic backplate. The BCD size is "L", and the numbers on the backplate are EN250, EN1809, and CE0426. Bought in the US, but I live in Indonesia now, and it's no longer under warranty - so this isn't something I can discuss with the store in the US...

Any chance that this part can be replaced?

If the answer is 'yes', then is there any chance that the part can be shipped to me in Jakarta, Indonesia, or to a Mares dealer in Jakarta?

Terima kasih banyak - thank you very much.

Robert

Robert,

This is not a normal part that we stock for service, but it can be ordered. Your best option would be to have a local dealer call his distributor who can get it from the factory.
I am not sure of the costs, but we typically do not ship to Jakarta from the US.

Regards,

Phil

Thanks for the quick response, Phil.

My problem is that even the Mares distributor in Indonesia, Lautan Mas, says they cannot order this part. Over here, if it is not a new item, it is unlikely that they will order a part for you. I don't have a realistic expectation that even a Mares distributor in Indonesia would do that for a non-stock, out of warranty item.

Alternatively, I wonder whether a back plate from a newer production BCD might actually fit if the straps are attached in the same manner - a possibility? If I'm lucky, slits for the cumberbund/waist straps, tank strap, shoulder straps will be same size and in about the same place. It's worth asking.

Anyway, it seems a shame to throw away an otherwise perfect, 4 year old Morphos Twin because of a small (but critical) break in the b-plate. I hope there is some way to get this back in the water.

Regards,

Robert

Selamat pagi Pak Phil.

Thank you for the assistance. I appreciate your effort and customer focus. The active participation of you and Zak in this forum sends a strong message and it is certainly is the right way to win customer loyalty, at least in my opinion.

Good luck finding a part for the BCD.

Terima kasih.

Robert
