Thing is, I'm a diver and am looking for a trip in 07. I'm considering Little Cayman, among many others (I've yet to narrow it down), but the main thing I'm concerned about is finding a place where the snorkeling matches the diving, so a non-diving relative of mine doesn't feel left out. That non-diving relative isn't such a great swimmer, so making the 100+ yard swim out to the dive site moorings on the wall for snorkeling isn't an option. Does anyone know whether there is EASY snorkeling close to shore anywhere on Little Cayman?
Thanks

To get right to the bottom line, Little Cayman doesn't really sound like the right choice for you. There are plenty of places which can be reached via bicycle from any of the resorts and which offer great snorkeling, but almost all would require booties with solid soles (and open-heel fins) and then a fairly vigorous swim out to the reef. Offhand, I can only think of one place (Sarah's Set) where there is an easy sand beach entry and then good snorkeling close to shore.

The dive boats will take snorkelers out on a space-available basis, but they will often go to sites where the only snorkeling possible would entail a long swim back towards shore. And in any case, I personally would feel strongly out of place if I were the only snorkeler on a boat full of divers.

Little Cayman is the greatest diving in the Caribbean, without a doubt, but a snorkeler's paradise it's not. Sorry!

Hi Mantasscareme,

I'm with zf2nt that LC definitely is not a prime choice for snorkelers wanting sites EASY & close to shore, although I'd modify his statement to read, "Little Cayman is arguably the greatest diving in the Caribbean,...."

You might find Bonaire more to your liking. Also, although it's still way laid back, BON has much more "topside action" than LC.

Best of luck.
