I'm a Fish!
Below is a mail we got today from the owners of Sipadan Mabul Resort and Mabul Water Bungalows. The message is clear. You really need to book ahead in peak time to avoid disappointment. The Sipadan fee of 11 U$ per day will be charged on booking to ensure you can dive Sipadan. When you are booking for any resort in the area, you MUST give them some information so they can apply for the permit: Name, Date of Birth, Passport number, Nationality.

In quieter times of the year, this should not be an issue, but at peak times like June/July/August, it is very important to book in advance! If you are booking just a few days before, as many people do, be sure to give the required information and double check that you will be able to do the dives you want.

Have a good day.

Dear Friends,

Please be informed that all daily entry to dive or visit to Sipadan Island will be subject to approval by the Sabah Parks Managenemt, which is in control of issuing the entry permit. The total number of divers or visitors allowed to visit Sipadan island is restricted now to 120 pax per day.

The fee for Entry Permit to Sipadan Island is USD 11.00 per person per day for divers, non-divers, visitors and children. This entry permit has to be paid in advance during the booking period in-order for us to apply in advance. Please take note that the entry permit fee to Sipadan Island will be not refunded once it is applied and approved.

However, should the entry permit to Sipadan Island not be approved, we can offer alternative diving at nearby islands such as Si Amil, Roach Reef, Kapalai or Mabul where there is no restrictions on these islands.
