I'm a Fish!
So I was up in Ft. Bragg, CA today doing a job. The guy saw all the dive stickers and surf shop stickers on my camper shell hatch and asked if I was a diver? Well duh! Just look at my rear hatch glass will tell ya.
So he comes out with a bag full of old dive regulators and says these are yours if you want them. So I put it in the truck.
When I get home this is what I find:

Man, you must be a really nice guy or something.

I'm not a complete a-hole, at least not all the time, and usually treat people well but I never have steel tanks and vintage regulators dropped in my lap.

Congratulations on the regs. They look awesome!

And on his death bed, he will receive total consciousness. So he's got that going for him as well.

Googa-la-goonga....... Big hitter, the llama!

I lined up the reg with another MK5 I have and the body looks to be the exact same dimensions, so I’m figuring that’s what it is. MK 10 from what I’ve seen is smaller. The yolk T handle is a little thinner as well as the yolk itself looks just a tad more petite than my other one. The holes for the ambient chamber are non SPEC large holes. The turret is a tad shorter and the end is coned in concave but does not have an end port. So I’m guessing this must be an earlier MK5 prior to the one I have.
The second stage is a basic 109 I’m figuring until I pull it apart and see if it’s balanced.
The DA, well, it’s just a standard good old DAAM what can I say. Hoses are gone and I looked in the horn and the duckbill is crispy (typical), but the mouthpiece is there and this is the first time I’ve gotten one with an actual worksheet.
I don’t know what era, early mid 60’s maybe?
I’m sure based on the serial number one of you experts might know.

Being that this is a coastal area with a diving history there is a lot of this type of stuff that is surfacing. The guy I got this stuff from doesn’t scuba dive but someone gave it to him that was clearing out their dads stuff after he died and this stuff was in a box.

I’m just in the right place at the right time and always talk about diving.
Also, there is an energy karma thing kinda happening. I swore off actively looking for and collecting more gear. By doing this you become magnetic to the things you set free and as a result stuff drops on you from the sky. Living in close proximity to the coast kelps too as the odds of this happening are increased sharply. It wouldn’t be the same if I lived in the middle of the Nevada desert.
