That is actually kind of interesting. Guess you guys should make sure you bring your knives to stab your buddy so you get away. ;) You don't have to be fast, just have to be faster than your buddy. :) God bless split fins. :) ...And on that note, I need to go to bed.
:11:
Darn, all I have are EMT shears...

The current plans are to meet up at Lover's West (lover's 3) at 8am on Saturday to check the conditions. Depending on how things look, we'll adjust accordingly. Drop me a pm if you're planning to be there.

=)

Well, it was nice meeting everyone this weekend. Thanks for being my buddies.

FRIDAY at Point Lobos, the vis was about 20'...maybe 30'? Lots of anemone and fish. I guess it was roughly the same at the metridium field at BW. One heck of a kick, but we landed right on top of them...great navigation skills ToddK! To be honest, my legs are still barkin' at me. ;)

SATURDAY. Lovers 3 was a bit too rough, so we dove the BW along the wall and it was soupy at best. Saw one little crab and some silhouettes of Tom and Alphonosis. Maybe the bad vis was caused by all the finned side-stepping entries without tanks by that "ultra advanced" class. I especially enjoyed walking through the parking lot runoff just before the stairs...if that's what it was.

Overall I had a great time meeting new dive buddies and blowing bubbles. We'll have to do it again.

Thanks for the report Jason and I'm sorry I couldn't be there. Did you meet mikeguerrero at BW? Just curious since he is supposed to be doing his OW dives. :D

So, Jason. About that 'Sunday at BW'. How did you dive in the future? ;)

zen_man- Missed ya man! Gosh, I've gotten my days mixed up! I've edited it so I do not scare away any potential buddies. :) Nope, didn't meet Mike, but there were at least ten floats out there this morning. I'm sure he was there somewhere. (oh yeah, just kidding around with that whole "ultra advanced" class thing, just in case you were in that class, Mike. ;) ) I hope you had a good time on your check out dives.

I was trying to figure out what that big fish we saw at Point Lobos was with the big forehead. Guess it was a sheephead. Pretty cool.

Big fish with big forehead does sound like a sheephead, and Lobos is the best (and almost only)
place to see them up here. There's one that's been a regular on the Great Pinnacle for several
years. He's named "Victor" -- sheepheads change gender, the name derives from the movie
"Victor-Victoria".

Coloring and shape will define age and current gender.

Thanks Chuck. I read the same thing online somewhere. Interesting fish. I only caught a glimpse of it but I knew it almost looked tropical due to it's color scheme and I noticed the big knot on it's forehead the most. I think it was a big male. Might have been Victor. I don't want to exaggerate but he had to be in the 24" range at least.

Anyone have any photos from this weekend? I was up on the north coast trying my hand at free diving and the vis was pretty bad. :( I ended up not even taking the camera out.
