Looks like my reason for going to Monterey just collapsed, so I won't be diving on Monday. Serious bummer.

Yangnome & I are buddying up Monday morning 10/16 for breakwater.

Trip report:

I met w/ Yangnome at the parking lot for the breakwater around 10am.

After paying parking fees, renting tanks/weights from Aquarius II, we huffed & puffed into our suits (or at least, I did. Yangnome is in much better physical shape than me :11: )

There were several other groups suiting up & going out; a group of 3 w/ at least 1 drysuit; another group of 3 suiting up next to us, apparently from South Carolina.

Turns out that I was overdressed for 60F water, and got overheated trying to put on my fins etc. Couldn't hack the swim all the way out the pier, so we descended when the depth was still 10 ft. Swam out & saw a gorgeous unidentified nudibranch, lots of anemones, sea pens, sea stars, unidentified sand fish, kelp.

I'll know in the future (should note in my log) that I'm actually perfectly comfortable in 60F without a hood or gloves. (Mind you, for more than 1 dive, I might want the hood & gloves! )

Thanks, Yangnome, for being my buddy today. I had a great time!

i was there as well on monday had fun. my buddy from brooklyn and i dove off breakwater. the better time was had at pt lobos by far. dropped down pretty much landed on a stingray and new it was going to be a good dive. the only thing that sucked the swell was up and visibility was down,

we could only stay the rim of the mouth in fear of getting sucked out so we pudded around there all dive on tuesday morning. swam with a seal for a bit, bunch of nudibranchs, tons of fish, stingray. vis ranged from 10-20. still better than what i am accustomed to
