That's the Monterey Bay forecast. The problem with that forecast is that there's always someplace
in the bay that's sheltered and has low numbers. Unfortunately, that someplace is usually up around
Santa Cruz. I find it better to look at the "out 10 miles" forecast which will tell you what Neptune is
throwing at you and learn to map that into what's happening on various dive sites.

Also, Pt. Lobos, Monastery, etc. aren't in Monterey Bay.

Two dives at Lobos today---Hole in Wall the first, parallel rock channels between Whalers and Blue Fish (not sure if they have a name, same neighborhood as HIW just closer to the rocks and shallower) the second. Pretty big swell coming in, so surgey but diveable. 20' to 30', or more, visibility. Computer said 50F first dive, 49F the second & 71F air temp after the second.

Very nice & tiring day.

Did boat dives on Saturday in the bay, Hopkins and the kelp near the aquarium intakes. Viz was quite good at Hopkins, a clear 40+, maybe a cloudy 60+ . The kelp was less, but still good. Temp was actually a bit "warm", 51-55 according to my computers.

Thanks for the condition updates everyone, and all of the advice beforehand. Sunday morning I decided it looked too nasty so I passed. Hopefully we'll actually get a weekend storm gap soon!

Did first dive at North Monastery. 30ft vis. A little bit of current and surge. Went to canyon to check out squid I heard were there from two divers exiting as I was entering. Cruzed around the point and hung at 70 feet like they said but didn’t see them. I saw a ton of Ling Cod. They were everywhere. Excellent dive. The wind picked up after I exited and decided to do my second dive at Breakwater. Vis was 10-15. Average dive.

Went to breakwater today. Vis was around 20-25 to 40ft. Water temp was 55. Clear skies, air temp at 8am was 56. Tide was high, 6.9, with some swell showing a little. Love this time of year. The usual critters were present, nothing "awesome" to report. I was surprised the dive was as good as it was, looking at the seemingly surgey surface conditions. Weather is changing, hope to be back in the water when I can. Peace to all.

Dove Sunday at Pt. Lobos with 3D Diver. We're diving the same model computer (veo 100) but mine read 57 and 56 degrees respectively. Not much swell or surge when we were in Whaler's cove proper, so the entry/exit were fine. Out by HIW there was significant surface swell, but IMHO not hazardous to our group's experience level. Swim in and out was easy as there is little kelp. U/w there was a definite surge, but both of us were able to get some pretty stable video, so it couldn't have been too bad.

Overall very enjoyable dives with a sunny day.
