Just returned from the Quarry. The viz is a little rough but the diving is wonderful. You drop down into what feels like an ancient forest. It was too cool. I look forward to many long weekends in Monroe.

I ended up diving yesterday at Monroe. I couldn't find a buddy so Brandon volunteered to put up, I mean dive, with me. Our second dive was over in the southwest corner of the quarry. The viz was great over there and about 64 degrees down to the thremocline which was at 28 ft. Very cool wall dive and finished up looking around a submerged woodlot that was pretty much right under where we had the pontoon boat tied up. Probably all kinds of stuff to find down in/under those trees. Thanks again Brandon if you happen to see this.

Dive buddy called me up and we did quick getaway to Monroe Quarry on Saturday late afternoon. My first time there.
Visibility was about 7 ft. Temperature around 50-55F.
We took the pontoon out to the buildings for the first dive. The bottom is just over 80 ft at this site. They are a couple of aluminum buildings. The main building is fairly large with a garage-door sized opening on one side. The smaller building has windows on 2 sides and a regular door on the 3rd side. The 4th side only has about 2-3 feet between it and the large building. We found out afterward that there is supposed to be another building off to one side, but you have to know where you are going to find it (and we did not). When the visibility opens up this should be a real fun spot.
2nd dive we jumped off the concrete wall and went out to the small Cessna plane they have. It is a 2-seater so not really all that big, but just nice to look over.
Then we returned to the concrete quarry wall and just scooted along it back to the boat launch and a little ways past there along the rock wall.
Just a couple of nice enjoyable dives. A very enjoyable first time visit to this quarry and dive location.
Met the owner Steve and his son Brandon. They seem like good folks and we had fun talking and joking with them as we packed up our gear.

Do they have lines down to the roofs of the buildings? How deep is it to the roof? I think Brandon said one of the buildings is either two stories or has like a loft in it or something. He also mentioned a radio tower with a shed. I think there's going to be a lot of distinctive dive spots down there.

The buoy line runs down to the top of an old telephone pole which then comes down next to the corner of the tall building, I do not remember an exact depth, but I guess the corner where the pole and the roof meet are at around 65 feet and the peak of that roof is probably about 60 ft.
I am sure there is more too see once the visibility clears up some. Maybe they will run some lines to the other buildings in the future.
Next time I plan on bringing my reel.

Thanks Dave. I'd kind of like to try that site out next time down to Monroe. I'm sure one of my buddies would be up for it too. Maybe we can share the pontoon sometime. It could probably handle four divers ok.
