Mola Mola at Crescent Bay

Just got back from a wonderful dive at Crescent Bay. Near Seal Rock we came across several Mola Mola-- very odd looking fish swimming close to the surface. It's the first time I've seen these in real life. Has anyone else seen these in Laguna Beach?

None of us took a camera, unfortunately. The ocean was very calm so I'm kicking myself for not taking one. We were also checked out by a sea lion and came upon a baby Horn Shark. But the several Mola mola were something else.

I got an email of dive report from South Coast Divers also Crescent Bay. One of their divers also spotted a Mola mola.

Not from shore, but I've seen them out on the oil rigs on several dives.

We've now seen a few at Diver's Cove and at the outer edge of the Rockpile at Heisler Park.

It's wonderful to see these exotic fish in our backyard.
