I ordered this reg set And I have not found much info on this combo. I plan on using it Monterey, CA . The temp is around 51 degrees. I have seen the G250HP on other regs but not with the MK16+. Also not much info on the MK16+. My local dive shop said its real similar to the MK17. And It would be perfect in the conditions in Monterey. I just would like to hear any other opinions. Thanks in advance.

The Mk 16 is very similar to the Mk 17, and if properly updated, will use the same seat assembly as the Mk 17. The major difference is that the Mk 16 has only one HP port and is not sealed. Despite being unsealed it is very reliable in cold water.

The reg is brand new. The advertisment says that the mk16 is environmentally sealed. Huh I will call them on that. Oh wait what does that mean? Thanks Again
Not sure if I am allowed to show the link were it says it.

Posted via Mobile Device They also offer the MK25/G250HP for 50 dollars more should I go for that insted? I'm just not sure what to do.

My vote would be to upgrade to a Mk17 and a 250V. The 17 is very similar to a 16, with the mods that DA mentioned. The 16 could be finicky. All the 17's I have worked on have been reliable and very easy to set to spec with no fluctuation. I also own two 17's and couldn't be happier.
The 250V is just a newer version of the HP. I haven't tried one yet but a couple of buddies have them and have told me that, very unscientifically, they breathe better than the HP. I'm thinking about swapping out my S555 for a 250V.

Just my 2psi.

The original G250 was an updated Balanced Adjustable with a plastic rather than metal case. This was again "updated" as the G250HP. The early HP's had metal air barrels and were not bad, but they then changed to a plastic air barrel which impacted bith heat transfer and moisture retention making is a dry mouth inducing reg like the smaller S600.

Now Sp has went back to the orginal G250 design with the G250V. Maybe they noticed that 20 year old mint to excellent condition G250's were bringing more on e-bay than brand new G250 HP's were selling in the shop.

Posted via Mobile Device I called my LDS and they said it should cost 100 dollars more for the mk17 is it worth the step up from the 16. And the mk25 is 50 dollars more. I'm leaning to the MK17. Thanks again for the advise.

MK17 must be a good reg for the cold water (below 41 degree). I have it as well. However, MK16 and MK25 are more than enough for your diving environment.

Many members on the board have some fantasy without realism on their diving environment.

If there is only $50 difference (MK16 must be rip off), I will go with MK25 because MK16 is discontinued model in U.S. market.

Thanks, looks like its a no brainier to upgrade. For sure I will upgrade. I might just get the mk17 just so that I will have that piece of mind and that damn buyer's remorse crap.
