A "quality" gauge will give you more accuracy and be easier to read; but an el cheapo is all that's required to verify IP lock up....the most important test.

So if it looks stableish on the cheapo that's probably good enough? I just sent it in for a sign off from our dive safety officer, so I'll probably hear back if it passed his tests within the week.
