Actually, it can be made to work fine on the Mk5 also but it takes a little modification. About 1.5 mm of spacer between the reg body and the retainer will keep the recommended torque from crushing and damaging the sealing o-ring and a little removal of some plastic from the saddle will stop the din wheel from binding.
