Best guess for a low risk low waste scenario.. weight the 408 you have, add to it 1.2~1.5x (as the 812 will sit in crevices so you’ll use more) the remaining weight to full scrubber from the 812; shake shake shake and the pack the scrubber

Use the worst case scenario stack duration, that’s the nominal for the 408 (since it has the lower value) — even tho you should theoretically have more, but allow that extra buffer in case any “micro channels” happen

If it was the other way around, use the weight ratios to shorten stack time, or.. use WCS either way

PS I’m just mad scientist-ing this, haven’t used anything besides 797-812 so 🤷🏽‍♀️

How much 408 do you actually have remaining? If you have more than half a tub might be better to just finish off your 408 first then for the last run mix it up; even if you achieve an even mix you’ll have to do some mental gymnastics for the stack times

And any chance you actually use a dual scrubber setup (like a revo or sidewinder)?
If you do, maybe use split fills and have some peace of mind on the mixing
I didn't go that route. But with my rEvo, I would have no issues filling each scrubber with a different sorb.

Do you know anyone else who uses the sorb size that you no longer plan to use? If so, gift it.

I'm actually pleasantly surprised at the answers here :-) I figured on SB this is "you're going to die" " or "don't be cheap" territory.

To be honest I've done it a couple times before and had no issues although I don't generally make a habit out of mixing sorb. I just lowered my duration to what I would normally do on 4-8 mesh and only used it on a shallower dives where I anticipated the workload would be less (no strong currents or working dives). I made sure I mixed everything thoroughly beforehand and spend a little extra time to make sure it was well packed.

My situation was that I only had access to a 4-8 mesh and had a limited amount of sorb 8-12 left. I was in Mexico and couldn't easily get anymore sorb at the time.

TL;DR - I did it a couple times. I had no issues although I realize that this doesnt make it ok. I'm just sharing my experience as another data point.
