Is there no news anymore that isn’t BS?
Between Hollywood (who OD’d, who went to rehab, who nutted up, who shot an amateur porn video, who had plastic surgery, etc) and Washington with it’s BS politicians (BOTH sides) you can’t get any straight and news-worthy news anymore.
For example: I was trying to watch the General Petraeus’ report on the war to Congress this week. Now, this is a soldier, not a politician, trying to simply make a report on what’s going on over there. Every “question” from the politicians is not a question at all, but rather taken as an opportunity to make a speech and push their particular agenda! I turned it off because it was making me ill.
Is it me just getting old and cranky, or is the news no longer news anymore?

The media is too busy pushing there agenda and not reporting the news

Gonna have to watch him on C-Span ... then again I generally like sitting around and watching paint dry, enamel paint drying in cold damp basement.

that (watching paint dry)would certainly be less annoying, and a lot more productive.

The "news" has long been a pet peeve of mine. Even more annoying are the people that take it as gospel - especially the local news  Spencermm, I think you have it right in your last post.

News isn't news anymore ... just as sports isn't sports ... and for the same reason.

It's "entertainment" ... packaged and sold the way it is because that's what the majority of people want to buy.

Most people don't want to be informed ... rather they want to be spoonfed, preferably either mindless drivel about the "rich and famous" or opinions that do nothing more than reinforce what they're already inclined to believe.

Real news went the way of the dinosaur when the media conglomerates realized that people weren't paying attention to it. The last newscaster in this country with an ounce of integrity was probably Walter Cronkite. Since then it's all about selling entertainment ...

For a soldier to get to that rank, he has to also be a very good politician. He was in his element and successfully avoided the traps and pitfalls. I thought he represented his boss quite well.
