I have a work trip taking me to Miami (South Beach) in early November. I'll be on my own for diving, so looking for a boat where I can insta-buddy or go with a guide. I'll have one day free for sure, and potentially a second if I fly in early. What options are available for a few decent dives in the area? I've heard there are some wrecks accessible right out of Miami itself, which would be nice to avoid having to rent a car. If not, is Key Largo the nearest destination for good diving?

Thanks,
Sean

I won't be much help but I went over to Lauderdale By the Sea for shore diving and I did find quite a few dive ops in that area, that would require you renting a car. The only thing I was thinking about is, you probably don't want a deep dive if you are going to be flying. If you rent a car, commercial pier is good if you have the right conditions. I am sure some people will chime in but I love the east coast but live on the west coast.

However for where you are staying in a quick google search I found these guys: https://www.facebook.com/pages/South-Beach-Dive-and-Surf-Center/80224802610 but I don't know anything about them. I hope more people will chime in and help you out. Either way, enjoy your stay in Miami!

there are several dive ops in the Miami area.. RJ Diving Ventures isn't bad... might be cheaper to rent a car though than deal with a taxi.. and several in the Ft lauderdale greater area. what wrecks depends on what cert you have - for the deeper wrecks charters like AOW or higher.

there are bunches of wrecks off Miami. on the beach you have several dive ops/shops like tarpoon, south beach divers, and rj's. calling any of them up should get you set up. There's also diver's paradise a short drive away if you do get a car. what days are you planning on being in town?

OK thanks folks. I'll probably check out one of the outfits on the beach for a quickie.
