We'll be in Florida for a quick trip (and Scuba Fest 2002 in Lauderdale) May 19-22, and it turns out we now have one day "open" -- cuz we were going to the Navy SEAL Museum in Ft. Pierce, but it isn't open the day we had planned (a Monday).

We're already set to do some dives in/around Lauderdale (terrific shore diving, we know, as we've been there several times already), but we're staying down in Miami Beach and wonder if there's anything closer? And, by that, I mean we're looking for shore dives and/or dive ops. We do have the DeLoach book on Florida dives -- which we've used quite a bit on prior trips to FL.

Tanks, in advance, for any info you want to share ...

Hi Margaret,
The best shot at shore diving will be at Ocean Fest, the first reef line is apprx. 100 yds. It's a pretty good trek across the sand and we are pretty warm right now. Air temps. in 90 water temp 83F.
At the south end of miami bch. is Tarpoon Lagoon a local shop near the marina where several dive boats depart. Towards the north end of M.B. is H2O Scuba an excellent shop with their own boat behind the shop. Here's their site: www.h2oscuba.com
Hope this info. helps.

My wife and I will also be at Ocean Fest, we'll be the ones trying to find shade under the only palm tree on the beach!!

Appreciate the info on MB dive ops. You're the second one to recommend H2O ...

Perhaps we'll meet you under the palm tree ... however, I recollect a few more trees!
