covediver:
Glad I could be of service. I was looking for swimming supporters, which have largely gone by the wayside, through google when I found the site. They seem to have the best selection of square legs around. you also asked about jammers for women. Check out some of the triathlon website. Speedo also makes them under their Fastskin line, if memory serves.

The rest of this is just a general statement directed to no one in particular.

I am quite surprised at some of the reaction to a simple question about where to buy square legs for under a wetsuit. And the idea that a swimsuit belongs to the past century rather than this century is somewhat ridiculous. Underarmor works well, but it is unlined which presents a whole different set of concerns. Being a gentleman, I will leave it at that.

I am in the pool about 6 days a week between masters swimming and teaching and fin swimming. It seems that different swimwear is more appropriate for some occassions rather than others, but it really is a matter of personal choice. Mine and no one elses. I dont want to swim a 4000 yard workout over and hour in a half in board shorts and I certainly don't someone setting the pace in front of me wearing them either. It is like swimming with a parachute around your feet. On the beach, I wear boardshorts of varying lengths depending on the activity. By the way, the best boardshorts are still made in the USA by Beach Britches, just like they have been for nearly half a century.

My swimwear has no teleology and does not make a lifestyle statement, it is a matter of utility, plain and simple. Please don't project anything more than that into what is a personal choice in clothing.
No need to be sensitive, man. And nothing wrong with square leg style swimwear. It's "budgie smugglers" that draw objections. And ... no one care what you wear under your wetsuit. Really.

They care what you expose on the surface while changing OUT of your wetsuit. If you're discrete (discrete enough for everyone around you, that is... standards vary), go commando for all I care.

But I'd just as soon have some of the images I've seem removed from my memory banks, and some of the more horrific ones include speedos. And they WEREN'T under the wetsuit. At least, not when I saw them...

Why would anyone prefer unlined and see through underwear such as Under Armour or raw nudity or 19th century wading bloomers instead of a Speedo and frankly the Jammers do wad up and bunch under some of my wetsuits.

What needs to go away in the 21st century is homophobia.

I just wanted to thank everyone again, I found a last years style sqaure leg cut speedo on speedousa.com on clearance for $19.95, plus there is a current promo coupon for 20% off (code SPEEDO47) so the total with shipping came to only about $22. So if anyone is shopping for one now is a good time to buy.

Thank you. Exactly my point.

I've swam competitively since age 6, when every guy was wearing the "dreaded" Speedo in practice and meets, on starting blocks, when receiving medals and trophies, and breaking pool records, and nobody seemed to complain then. I've seen, worked out with, competed against, and taught thousands of guys wearing them. Heck, Mark Spitz won 7 Oly gold medals in one.

I find it amusing that a diver - of all people - would be shocked-shocked to see another man's 'point' in a suit. What, for God's sake, do you do in a locker room or public shower? Wear blinders? But a woman's camel toe doesn't offend you?

Anyone opposed to the practical utility of a Speedo simply has not (1) been a competitive swimmer, or (2) had to put on a wetsuit wearing boarder shorts. You've read, or had read to you, Green Eggs and Ham. Try one, try one, you will see.

Like covediver said, nobody really cares whether you wear or what you wear - except you. It's about utility, not fashion.

Actually, what I've been looking for is a type of suit I wore while beach lifeguarding in Chicago back in the late '70's. It's an Aussie style suit. It's shorts that are square but made of a relatively (to Speedo's) thick woven nylon that provides more protection and is more durable. Can't find it anywhere. That dude who stars as 007 in the new "Casino Royale" was wearing one similar towards the end of the movie. If anyone knows what I'm talking about and can direct me I would appreciate it.

There's nothing worse than swimming in those huge, baggy, tent-like clothe suits. Good for floating, not for swimming.

MSU99:
I just got some Jammers from http://www.swimoutlet.com/

Pretty good prices I thought and the fitting guides seem pretty accurate from my experience.

For ladies they have something called a Unitard and also triathalon wear http://www.swimoutlet.com/Unitards_s/219.htm
http://www.swimoutlet.com/Triathlon_Wear_s/490.htm

These appear similar to jammers yet have an extension up to the shoulders to cover the.... well you get the idea:wink:

I would avoid triathlon wear, as there is usually a pad for the bike portion, and it looks like a diaper. I wear speedos for laps in the pool, so I am comfortable wearing them under a wetsuit. I never wore a speedo on my bike though, those guys creep me out.
