Im from the northeast and I will be in Memphis in August for a wedding and I will be staying a few extra days. Is there any diving in the immeadiate Memphis area? Anyone willing to buddy up, and possibly chaufeur? I will be in Memphis August 20 to the 26th, with the wedding events being the 21st, 22nd, and 23rd. Any of the other days I'm open for diving.

Thanks,

Jason

Pretty much zip...lakes in Arkansas roughly 3 to 4 hours away, plankton is blooming right now so viz is low and you pretty much need a boat. Martha's Quarry in Lebanon just outside of Nashville, 4 hours away, Alabama Blue Water, Pelham, Alabama 5 hours, North Ms. lakes, 0 viz at 4 feet. The Dive Shop on Yates has a nice training pool....Gulf of Mexico, 10 hours away.

DW is right for the most part, but a little off on the travel calculations. That or he drives 40mph :cool2: . Pelham is a little far, but Martha's Quarry isn't more than 3.5 hours. I'm fairly new to diving, and will go any chance I get so if you come down here, hit me up and I'll be happy to dirve. Martha's Quarry, Heber Springs, or Lake Hamilton would be the best (relatively close options), but I do know people who dive Pickwick regulary, and claim 30 ft. viz in some areas / seasons. It's only about 1.75 hours away, and always a good time. Like I said, look me up if you're here and interested, but Memphis isn't exactly a diver hotspot unless you're looking to go in Golf Course water hazards looking for golf balls....

JP, I was including the hour plus just for me to get out of the buffet at the Country Store in Jackson. :D
