Just got a Canon 400D this week. Haven't had much time to play with it, but got out this morning and got one decent shot:

Dambana ng Kagitingan (Shrine of Valor) is a Philippine World War II Memorial to the defenders of Bataan.

Along with the island fortress of Corregidor, Mount Samat was the site of the most vicious battle against the Japanese Imperial Army in 1942 during the Battle of Bataan.

some photos...

soggy's photo inspired me to shoot mount samat even if it was 12noon and light was so harsh.

No one believes that the rays are real, but I swear they are like that on the original image. I only adjusted levels and removed a bit of lens flare.

Soggy, I love the moodiness of those last two pictures.
Jon, your memorial shots are inspiring, but you left my favorite out. I really like the one with the cylindrical structure (torch?) and the flagpole against the cloudy sky (#1378)

Those memorial shots are great. Love the B&W. For some sick reason, I really like photographing cemeteries. I think it's all the patterns created by the lines of stones.
