Views as I was leaving the island. Didn't take a lot of indoor shots as I've taken many of them.

Overall, I wasn't too impressed with the tour. Some of the areas accessible during the day was closed off. I also didn't like being herded in a large group for the first 30-45 minutes of the trip. I really should have gone anytime from late fall to early spring due to the time of the sunsets.

Well, here's something that's never happened to me before. I was trying to get some close shots of an alligator "mouth-gaping" (they do it to stay cool) yesterday, and the danged thing went full-blast right for me. I was on my knees with a camera on a tripod. I was able to get myself and the camera out of the way in time, reset and get a few shots, but it definitely made me think about getting too close to big animals. -Clay

Holy crap, Clay! I'm amazed you were able to get anything in focus, under the circumstances. I think focusing on the teeth was appropriate.

Glad you weren't hurt.

Holy mackerel, those are some of the cleanest teeth I've ever seen! Even trumps some homo sapien's teeth that I've seen. ;) At least that alligator doesn't need a dentist. ;)

Great shot Clay, wonderful use of DOF....... :14:

There are some fantastic photos in this thread.
My humble contributions from a trip to St Croix last July.
I am using a Canon S2IS and I haven't really been able to get the 'sharpness' that I would like.
Isn't nature wonderful!

That must have been humbling. Those are really great shots. You can see the sensory pits on it's "lips" wonderfully.

Frank, that anole's got style.
