mcnett spray, solvent odor?

i used sea drops in the past & out of curiosity got a mcnett sea quick spray. am curious why the drops dont sting while the spray has an overpowering solvent smell to it. i would have imagined they are similar chemicals.

i end up having to rinse the mask so much it looses the antifog protection. am i doing something wrong here? thx

the warning is rather strange for a mask antifog product :"in case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately and seek medical advice" !

In August I spent a day in Emerg.

Went for a two tank at the quarry. Must have been distracted when gearing up, as it appears I did not rinse the sea drops properly before donning the mask. Spent some time in the duck diving position, had a partial mask flood, and got some water in my eyes. Didn't sting at all - at the time.

When I surfaced, one eye was cloudy, but still didn't feel anything. Thumbed the second dive to be safe.

I did turn out to have a chemical irritation in the eye that did start to "burn" later. Polysporin and eye drops.

Thankfully not a bad one, but in any case I now use baby shampoo. I did see the same warning on the sea drops bottle when I looked at it later.

Rather use Sea Gold. It's a gel and work really well and sticks better to the lens. The other products also works but is better suited to skiing and the likes.bi only use sea gold.

I prefer spit to be honest. If I wanted a bit of sting I would consume tabasco or orange juice before prepping my mask.

I don't know if there's a difference in formula but there should be a list of ingredients on each of the bottles. You could look at that and compare. If they're the same then it just must be a difference in the ingredient ratios.
