Hi, I have second hand Coltri MCH6 which I bought few years ago. It has Honda GX 160 petrol engine. The compressor works just fine. With the new safety valve it fills up to 250 Bar.

Recently I did regular maintenance and few additional upgrades:
  • new engine oil
  • new spark plug
  • new transmission belt
  • new compressor oil
  • new filter cartridge with CO catalyst
  • new intake hose & filter
  • new filling hose
  • new safety valve 250 Bar original Coltri
Unfortunatelly it has no pressure maintaining valve, which would cost additional ~180 Eur.

Now I'm doubt whether it should keep it and be happy with it or...

Sell it as a good shape unit, save some more money and buy new e.g. LW 100 B LW 100 B | L&W Compressors

What's your oppinion?

I had 2 MCH6, they died after 50 hours.
My friend had 2 MCH6 in his dive shop, they died after 50 hours.
Dying meens they were scrap metal: broken pipes, piston destroyed, krankshaft destroyed, lot of blow by.
It was not worth repairing.
Sell your Coltri MCH6 as long as it works.

L&W compressors....interesting....who is the manufacturer? As for the MCH6, I have the MCH6-Icon as do many others, lots of folks out there that decry the Coltri but also many more that use them....your call, but you have done a lot of upgrades to your model and why not use it? As you say "and be happy with it"....many 'experts' on internet; but mostly folks that criticize rather than analyze...or so it seems to me and I could be wrong...

Yeah, see it in action today! With De-Ox CO analyzer and Divesoft flow limiter.

First you use the Coltri MCH6, THEN you decry it. I know what I am talking about.

The MCH6 is the lousiest compressor on this planet.

Oh, this is the very, very old version, I guess older than 20 years.

No pressure maintaining valve, which is no good at all. When filling pressure is low the air will keep some oil in there, bringing it into your tanks.

Or you sell the compressor (best solution) or you add a pressure maintaining valve.

I would never ever fill without PMV unless I hate the diver which will use this cylinder.

Thanks, well all I could find in EU is this: Pressure maintenance valve for portable compressors | Coltri Compressors

...and have no idea how/where to install it? I didn't find any photo on internet of Mch-6 having it installed.

Nice set up! Like the doubles...try contacting these guys...ask for "Ron", he was great source of information when I bought my MCH-6 Icon... https://nuvair.com/1-4-fnpt-to-1-4-mnpt-6000-psi-back-pressure-regulator.html..

"zero" CO....good....we used to put bottles in large tank to reduce heat during compression/filling, but unless you have a LOT of time and ice water, the drop in pressure from heated air to ambient is unavoidable...again just my experience...your mileage may vary..:)
