Thank you Natasha.
I was about to say: "I haven't seen anyone actually say what the result was."
I've seen what the likliness would be, but not the actuall outcome.

as for the other thread being closed, people's tempers were raising, and that's not a good thing.
Above all else, we must remember that most of us at least are adults, and need to set a good example for the younger generation.

Well the results are posted...and we were turned down because it is assumed we CAN'T act like adults nor can we be good examples for the younger generation....nor can we conduct ourselves in a 'wholesome, family' oriented way. What a huge generalization against single people in general and in particular on this board.

Now if for some reason I am wrong...please let us know the real reasons our request was turned down? Thank you.

Would you please explain how you can go on a rant like this and claim that the moderators are making assumptions. It surely appears that the assumptions being made are yours, and yours alone.

It was closed in an attempt to keep the discussion one sided and misleading. It was closed, then reopened to insert an inflamatory crock, then reclosed. That could not have been done to calm tempers.

I can't speak for others, but my temper didn't flare until the thread was closed. There's a smoldering ember, let's put it out with gasoline.

Just how naive do you think we are?

Jeff, she asked a legitimate question and you belittled her while ignoring the question. Why don't you simply answer the question.

It was closed with the comment that the voting would be complete by 5pm.

As for the reopening and closing. You know as well as I do that moderators get no warning if they reply to a post in a closed thread. You _do not_ need to unlock it to reply. You are making a leaping assumption that it was intentional.

As to debating the reasons, there is another thread where she chose a much less abusive tact for discussing it, and that is where I've chosen to discuss it. I'm not going to discuss in multiple threads or I'm going to get myself confused.

Spectre I look forward to your reply in this or the other singles thread. And I have answered your turn around question to me. Now I hope you'll do the same and answer my question as to WHY we were turned down. Thank you very much! ww :)

When I was a mod, I could not reply to a closed thread without reopening it.

Well, it's a moot point here, but I'm going to have to ask you to trust me on this one. Just because you see the 'closed' tag, doesn't mean that you can't click on the button that used to be 'post reply'. If you click on the 'quote' button, normal users are told the thread is closed, moderators are not. With window sizes and lengths of threads, you can click on 'quote' without ever seeing the 'post reply' button on the top or the bottom and notice that the thread is closed.

likewise, if you are writing a post when the thread is closed by another underneath you... normal members are told the thread is closed when they attempt to submit the post. Moderators it makes no difference.

This is built into the software specifically so that moderators can close threads and _then_ post why it was closed, without having to open it up [and thus risk the thread continuing].

You must not recall, but I drafted a request to add a feature to prompt moderators if they are posting in a closed thread. A prompt along the lines of "this thread is closed, proceed with posting? [yes] [no]".
