If you just want to do the dive from the bay end out, you'd be far better off to go in the kiddie pool & just go north to the end of the rocks & around the end. I've done the reverse at the end of a dive.

I'm just thinking about drifting and swimming as little as possible. The tide is .66 which is supposed to be average, but this information has know meaning to me because I've never dived a channel during a moving tide. From what you are saying it sounds like it is not a strong tide.If you just want to do the dive from the bay end out, you'd be far better off to go in the kiddie pool & just go north to the end of the rocks & around the end. Can you drive down to the point near the bay to pick up gear? Looking at the tide numbers do you have a feel for the tide?the current can be minimal, or it can be a jet ride from hell.
I've been seeing mid to upper 50s from the bouy just outside the channel. I suspect the channel may be cooler due to river flow. I'm hoping for low to mid 60s by the end of March. What are the water temps like there in, say, mid to late March?
