Mala is a nice shore dive site, but if I could only do one dive it would be the
Backwall of Molokini. The sheer drop off and abundance of life makes it an incredible dive. I also did my deepest dive there with Ed Robinson. He told me about an endemic Angel fish that lives really deep there and took me down to see them.

Shore dive, hands down Mala Pier. Just have a flag/buddies to avoid possible fined. If diving at night no valuables in your car.

Boat diving, backside of Molokini.

Molo is great...excellent viz and the chance to encounter pelagic, like manta, whale shark, dolphins (slim but it does occur). Mala is excellent as a shore dive: almost always see tons of turtles, white tips, frogfish, occasional eagle ray, but viz is hit or miss depending on the swell. Aloha!

Mala for shore dive and lanai cathedrals for boat dive.
