Sometimes on rainy windy days I like to go diving just to get out of the weather ...

I am hoping the rain Gods are good to us.....staying down in the South, I am hoping for the usual dry weather....

We arrive tomorrow (Friday Night).

Saturday -- checkout dives at Ulua; call Tim & Doug.
Sunday -- Scooter dives with ShakaDoug (gotta support our SB members!)
Monday -- diving with Tim
Tuesday -- diving TBD
Wednesday -- Molokini with MDS (my wife doesn't dive, and I need a big boat for her to relax on)
Thursday -- TBD

We arrive early Saturday afternoon (1:00) and hope that Maui doesn't disappoint us with her weather. As long as we have some sunshine while we're there, the occassional showers and wind won't bother us at all. Hoping for partly cloudy with a few showers at the worst....but will take just anything short of a typhoon for my 11 days in paradise! :D

When looking at the month weather report on weather.com they show how much rain came with those showers in Lahaina....most days were around 0.06, which is basically a sprinkle. That might drive regular tourists inside, but not me!

Sunday - AOW/afternoon charter
Monday - AOW/Lanai
Tuesday - AOW/Molokini
Wednesday - shore dive with Tim?
Thursday - hung over from Luau the night before ;)
Friday - Backwall
Saturday - shore dive/Black Rock?
Sunday - Lanai
Monday - shore dive?

We're staying in Kaanapali and diving with Lahaina Divers. I have sea sick problems so prefer the bigger boats when I can get them, and we've had good experiences with them, so although there are better ops (Ed Robinson's, B&B, and Mike Severns to name a few), we're okay with Lahaina Divers this trip.

Next April when we go back, I want to do the 3-tank charter with Ed Robinson's? Anyone done that before? Is it as good as it seems on their website?

the weather today was gray skies - sorry ... but the diving was great :D

A couple friends and I hit Makena landing late this afternoon - vis at the entry was about 4ft, but it cleared up once we got about 50 yards off shore to 40-50 ft. vis. not too bad at all... saw an enormous turtle (shell was perhaps 4ft long) and a couple of eels. It was a rather shallow dive with a bt of 45 min. but all around a very nice dive, especially for being so late in the day.

So weather doesn't seem to be diminishing the dive conditions at this time ...

Aloha, Tim

The weather and water were both real nice today. It did appear that a bit of a south swell might be starting up. We want to watch that to see what happens. Vis down around Makena was in the 5-10 foot range along shore and quickly got better, up to about 50 - 60 feet five minutes from the entry point. It will probably be a bit cloudy for another day or so but I think you'll enjoy the break from the intense summer sun. Enjoy your dives!

I agree with Tim too. Sometimes when it rains (which is hardly ever around here) the best thing you can do is go for a dive. It rained for a while on Thursday and when we got under the water, it was like we turned off the rain and it was beautiful down below.

Otter....see you tomorrow... Torpedos are the only way to fly! We're gonna have some fun!

Aloha...

Weather yesterday was pretty good - South shores were not real good vis, but up north was incredible.

I had a nice l o n g dive with "otter" nearly 90 minutes ... very relaxing, vis was ok at nearly 50ft sometimes, then I went to Makena landing with another buddy - vis was 15ft and bad surge. In the afternoon I took another friend up to Old Airport beach and vis was 75-100ft, no current, no surge 6" waves ... it was wonderful!

Looking forward to diving with DiveMe in the morning at Honolua - hopefully the conditions are just as nice...

Aloha, Tim

Honloua, aaaah, a lovely dive if there ever was one. I never heard how long those Tigers hung out in there. It was the 4th day of their visit when we left.

Well, I'm getting excited reading these reports -- we are leaving tomorrow for a week on Maui. At this point, have two days of boat diving with B&B set up (I'm not sure which days) but I'm hoping we can get a shore dive in, too . . . since we'll be staying in Maui meadows, Makena would be an easy one if the conditions are right. This will be my first warm water diving, and if the vis is better than 20 feet, that will be a first for me, too!

A nice little get comfortable spot to dive is Ulua right by where you're staying. Check it out.
