Hey Guys & Gals,
Anybody know what materials are necessary for enriched air certification. Like to do the book work before vacation..

Depends on the agency but with PADI we had the book and tables. Many agencies do not require the dives anymore and that lets you leave home ready to dive. While the dives are not at all essential make sure you have a lab where you get to analyze your gas.

you can buy the Crew pack and it should have everything you need to get your home work done. If you are doing PADI. it should come with DSAT tables, 32% and 36% tables, the Book and a DVD.

Personally, I got the Book and the DSAT tables and calculated everything else. May ge the 32% and 36% later but no need at this point.

PADI waved the dive requirement but still makes you watch a DVD?

...right.

Yep, just watched the DVD for the third time.

The DVD is a condensed version of the book so it acts as a primer. We watched it once in the first class and that was enough.

Diving Nitrox is only different in that you dive a modified plan. You still have an NDL to monitor. The new thing in the water is observing your MOD, that's not something you need mask time with an instructor to learn.

Depend of agency , NAUI Instructor will teach you about the physiology of oxygen and nitrogen; advantages, disadvantages risks of nitrox; oxygen toxicity; of handling oxygen; the concept of "EAD"Equivalent Air Depth; use of EANx with Dive Tables; common gas mixing procedures.

PADI's DVD is pretty lame...45 minutes, and nothing overly interesting...the text should be adequate enough....

I opted for the dives since it was a deal on the tanks for that day comparably..All I had to do was analyze my tanks before we left, dive, then I had to figure out my O2 load and show I could work out the tables. (He made me do it the hard way and not use the 32% tables just to show I could do it)

Easy enough after taking the class!
