Mask removal??

When you flood the mask do you tilt your head back and press gently on the top of you rmask and exhale thru your regulator? Or keep your head straight and tilt mask and exhale thru regulator? :huh: Thanks

Tilt your head back just a little, very gently press on top of the mask the exhale through your NOSE, not the reg.

You exhale through your nose, not your regulator. Get that part right and it doesn't matter whether you press on the top of the mask or tilt your mask to separate the bottom seal.

I got it, I did the mask removal yesterday and tried to figure out which I did. I did it right but got so excited cause I did right I forgot which one. I love the feeling of being underwater and seeing life. Thanks.

Clearing your mask of water? is this what you mean? If so, you exhale through your nose. This is done while lifting the pressure off the bottom seal of the mask, exhaling while tilting your head up slowly. This should clear the mask of any water, but if it doesn't, you just repeat.

What would be the proper technique using a mask with a purge valve?

Tilt your head forword, unless you have it on upside down. One of the PADI training videos shows a guy with a purge valve mask, on upside down tilting his head back, which woud be correct all things considered.
