Mask in the freezer??

I'll take just the first two, same deal.

I've never had a big problem with fogging, just a good scrub with toothpaste (I went over with a good coating 3/4 times) when I got my mask.

No no dont use the gel use the basic cheapest paste nice and gritty. and as to the flaver of my spit depends what I eat before I go diving:blinking:

hm, I never did any sort of treatment to my mask like that...that I can remeber, I've had it for 4 years though, and my memory is comprable to a goldfish's.... but I use that 500psi stuff, bought it in my o/w class, and havn't really had any foggings.

Use a cleanser like Ajax or Comet one time before use...done.

Got a new mask this morning and the guy in the shop told me that to stop it misting up on its first few dives to leave it the freezer (after washing it out). Having been diving for over 15 years, I have tried just about every other trick in the book for stopping new masks misting up but had never heard of using the deep freezer. According to the guy in the shop, the freezing changes the mollecules in the silicone - the theory being that it is the reaction of the silicone changing temperature that causes the misting up. Does anyone know if this is bull****? I have a distinct feeling he was winding me up...

It could be that right now the guy at the shop is sittng back with his buddies telling the other side of the story... "then I told the guy to stick the mask in the freezer to keep it from fogging..."

Or it could be that he's completely clueless (like many dive shop employees) and really beleives this because that's what the shop owner (who is clueless) told him also.

Either way, sound like he's full of crap.

Just freeze that sucker and let us know how it works.

Silicone is so thermally stable that I can't imagine anthing happening in a domestic freezer.
