I just had an interesting thought: If you're facing down in proper horizontal trim and you lose the lens on your mask (to implosion or just popping out), as long as the skirt remains, it should be relatively easy to do a "bubble mask" using the mask skirt/frame to hold the bubble.

(I may have to try that if I ever come into possession of a broken (or to be broken) mask.)
