Hello dear buddies divers,

I have been a few times to egypt with my wife (DMs, 700+ dives, met in Komodo, a lot of LOB around the world, including in egypt). We also have been a few times to Marsa Shagra and also to Marsa Nakari.

This time I am planning to come to Egypt with her and with my brother that has never dived in his life. We plan for him to make an OWD, meanwhile my wife and myself we dive those days on more deep dives, and we would like after he gets certified, to dive a few days the 3 of us for, lets say, 5 days. Total then around 8 days of dive.

Airport wise, probably Hurghada -we come from europe.

I am currently struggling, between picking again Marsa Shagra, or trying other places like Dahab for instance (but could be somewhere else). I found that the prices in Shagra got excessive (dont get my wrong, we can totally afford them, but I found that billing 12 euros per day for a reversed valve for sidemount a bit abusive).

I would like your feedback, are there other places Marsa Shagra like, where we can dive from shore, easy for a totally new diver and interesting for advanced ones? My wife and I we take pictures, I go on sidemount/monkey and overall we are easy going (we never complain about a dive and we always trust that the dive has something to offer). Life after dive is not super relevant for us. Should I then pick up again Marsa Shagra? What do you think?

Thanks for your time and advices,

Best

Go back to Shagra or Nakari. As you know, very easy diving in terms of logistics, grab your kit out the locker, grab a cylinder and go dive. No transfers, loading kit on to boats, waiting around or dive guides. That is not the case in the other locations. While there is more varied diving elsewhere, you are not missing anything above water if you skip the other Red Sea resorts.

I agree with @MB NZ. That would be a safe bet.
But if you have been several times in Marsa Shagra, Dahab may be an option if you want to avoid repetition and if you take a location downtown: your brother can do his OWD from shore (if not to say from the promenade) while you can do the spots for more advanced divers. Once certified you can join him on the easy dives there.
Have a look at the dive centres/hotels around the bay whether there is soemthing that may suit you.
