I think CNN metioned it as the "forbidden fruit"

I also remember it from years ago that there were certain foods that would never be used as provisions on submarines. Don't remember the bananas, but I remember apricots and beans (LOL)

Yea, forbidden fruit :)

The bananas thing is still popular down here. Lots of fishing boats have signs at their docks. Some captains will search coolers before departure!

Interestingly we had a guy on the boat with us Sunday that brought bananas. We gave him grief over it and sure enough, he missed the wreck on an easy drop and had a 180' sand dive :)
