Thanks for the information FrankPro1. I will try that area to the right around the rocks. How about where the point vicente parking lot is, sometimes the vis looks really good, I think it is called the pinnacles. I do a lot of freediving in Laguna, but in PV only at bluff cove last year and vis was not so good. Think I'll ride my bike by and check it out today. I saw two freedivers out on sunday to the right of the pt vicente visitors center while whale watching. They were in the middle of the kelp beds, had to use binoculars to see them.

I have read MaxB's trip reports and want to visit Marineland myself - Does the development simplify beach access with a concrete path?

If you want consistently good visibility and a good variety of reef structure and life, I would try Christmas Tree Cove. Marineland is a great site, with tons of life but I've had better consistent visibility at Christmas Tree then any other place on the peninsula. The middle of the cove is a little mucky at times, but if you work yourself up the leftside of the cove, out towards the point, it gets really good. Once you get over to the point, there are some mini walls and drop offs to explore. One of my favorite sites to free dive;) or scuba dive for that matter.

There will be a paved road down to the cove, then a footbridge over the drainage ditch to the sandy beach above the rocky beach. The path to the Point is compacted dirt. Entries/exits will be unchanged.

I rode my bike up to Marineland area today. They were hard at work on the trail and road down to the beach. I checked out Christmas tree cove, man that's looks like a nice place to dive when conditions are right but getting down to it looks tough. There is another cove one block north of there on paseo de mar/burri that is smaller, you ever try that one? It has a trail. steep, but doable. Looks like I'll freedive Christmas tree cove and Marineland alot this summer.

You must be talking about Honeymoon Cove. I've never scuba dove that site, but I've free dove it a few times. Its a nice spot, with some cool reef structure. You can follow the far right point "I think North" all the way out and it stays pretty shallow all the way out to the outer kelp beds. Sometimes when Christmas Tree looks a little funky, Honeymoon will look good. "Or visa versa depending on the swell direction"

I've been out at Honeymoon one day and saw nothing but a few schools of senorita and the occasional opal eye, while I've been out other days and have been greeted by huge schools of many different varieties of fish. Its been hit or miss for me. My guess is because of the heavy traffic of spear fishermen who like to hunt there. Or not. Who's to say;)

Interesting article in the Daily Breeze. Another delay.............
Hey guys, I have another question for you. Couple of co-workers were talking about diving in Laguna and one said to me to check out a place on 17th in San Pedro called Pacific Wilderness.
I'm a freediver mostly, but they said I could rent the package for scuba for $40/day and go with them (to Laguna). I can't afford my own reg, bc, fullsuit, tank at the moment, but sure would like to get a few dives in every few weeks.
