I just bought a new drysuit, a Mares XR : drysuits

After having it in the water my first impressions are very positive. The material is much more flexible than my previous Trilam suit and the combination of that with the telescoping torso gives me a fantastic freedom and range of motion that I've never had in a drysuit before.

The dump valve is positioned differently than I've had on previous drysuits, which were all BARE. The dump valve is back further on the arm which allows venting by just moving the arm. You don't have to adjust the position of the rest of your body even a tiny bit. My previous drysuits never came even close to venting as well as this one does.

One criticism about the dump valve is that you can't really dive with it wide open. It dumps very easily but in the process it can let water back in at the same time. It's a little finicky to adjust it to just the right point where it dumps well enough but keeps you dry in the process. I'm still playing with this and I haven't gotten it right yet.

Overall I think I made a good choice.
