To be fair, these versions are almost the same for our purposes. The shorter ones I have are mostly missing stuff like the table of contents and repeated tech bulletins. BTW, the 2006 is what I call 2005-06.

But there's always at least one page in each of these that I feel needs to be indexed, so I'm replacing all 4 files. Which means I need to update a whole lot of links to changed page numbers.

It's something I was doing anyway since when I first wrote the page, I didn't realize you could link directly to a specific page in a pdf so I displayed the page numbers. Now that I don't need to do that, I'm taking the opportunity to reorganize in an attempt to make the whole thing more readable. But it's all hand coded html, so it's not a trivial task.

I know after our initial push for this initiative that I kind of let it go...but a few months ago, I finaly sprung for a PDF editor and have been thinking about the original initiative I proposed regarding breaking the manuals apart by each 1st stage and 2nd stage as stand alone PDFs. I have been working the past 2 springs/summers at a relatively new local bike shop and have been teaching skiing during the winters, once the snow starts falling or its cold enough to make snow, but there is a transition from the beginning of October until the end of November when I am just hanging with our German Shepherd Dogs and working on projects around the house...I should have some time to devote to the project in the near future. I will leave it up to you whether you want to upload them to the site or not...I recall we had a brief discussion a few years ago about copyright, fair use, and why you set up the website the way you did.

Is there a troubleshooting guide?

Yes...it is in the form of a course taught by rsingler. Contact him directly by clicking on his name and selecting "send direct message" to find out when he will offer the course next.

Cheers,

I've completed the update. So please take a look at:

The major change is links now go directly to the page in the pdf. This allowed me to remove the page numbers which in turn let me clean up the format. If you want to see the previous version, it's here: Mares Regulator Service Information - previous

Completely new additions are the service manuals for the 22X, 25XR, 28XR, 72X and 75XR first stages and the Atlas second stage.

There are also updates to the service info or schematics/parts lists/exploded photos for the above plus the 12S, 52X, 82X, Rover and SXS.

Finally, I've updated the Tech Bulletins section to the most recent revisions available. These usually look a lot better than earlier versions as they've replaced many of the drawings with photos and they have also made some corrections.

If you find any errors, please let me know.

We are heading that way anyway. Most of my updates are one file per reg because that's the format I received them in.

Also, my main objection to breaking them up is becoming less and less valid. This was that the manuals usually contained additional info from tools, to technical bulletins to troubleshooting guides even to a list of second stage cracking pressures that wasn't tied to any single reg and so it made sense to at least skim the whole thing. But Mares now bundles all of the relevant stuff into the service info for each stage so they are clearly meant to be used as standalone files. The result can be amusing. For example only 11 of the 38 pages in the 2023 12S service pdf are devoted to the actual servicing and adjustment instructions.

The 2016 German language and 2017 manuals are the earliest we have where they switched to comprehensive service info. Of course it could have happened in one of the years we don't have (i.e. 2013-2016). It may be that the ultimate approach is to make single files for service info from that point forward and leave the earlier stuff as links to the inside of the full manual.

There are a bunch. What reg/stage are you interested in? For anything from 2017 on, it's included in the service instructions for each stage, just before the schematics. Prior to that your best bet is the 2012 manual. Here's the direct links:

First Stage Troubleshooting - 2012 Manual page 27
Second Stage Troubleshooting - 2012 Manual page 60

Edit: I've also updated the index page of the site to include this info.

I didn't mention the source above because I wasn't sure if he wanted it to be public, but I've been given the go ahead. So...

Thanks a lot to @Tanks A Lot for providing the new service info. Everything with a 2023 date came from him.

:thanks:
