Dear all,

I would like your advice on octopus to add to my regulator Mares Proton Metal with first stage V16. I would go for Mares Proton octopus but, I have also noticed MV octopus which seems smaller and easier to handle.

Thanks

MVs are just Dacor Vipers which are very suitable to use as an octo,
you can search opinions and tests about vipers

Thanks Hamsiss, you are right, the MV seems to be Dacor Viper with Mares label. Would it be compatible with V16 second stage? Would Mares octopus bought in US fit the LP port of V16 bought in EU?

It's all standardized nowadays, it will fit.

Would I need to send new octopus for service/fine tune to prevent free flow?

Hvala xander

I don't think that you'll need it (as both are mares regs today, so they should be tuned at factory) but I would ask it LDS to be sure..

All octo's and regs are tuned at the factory for optimum perfomance.

The MV octo will fit any Mares 1st stage regardless of where it was purchased. Please note that all Mares 1st stages have a dedicated port for your primary second stage. You will see the acronym DFC on this port. It is not advised to move the primary 2nd stage from this port because it has our patented dynamic flow control which minimizes intermediate pressure drop resulting in easier breathing.

Hope this helps,

Thanks, one of the biggest internet-based supply company is selling MV octopus without the hose, and that confuses me. The question is which hose/connectors for the octopus/first stage to buy? Is the LP port/hose of 3/8” worldwide standard for octopuses?

I apologize, the seller replied that the LP hose is included with MV octo.
