Looking to buy my first dive computer. Could someone please explain the difference between the Mares Nemo Sport and the Nemo Excel? The descriptions seem pretty similar, other than the rugged body of the Excel, but I assume there must be some major differences to explain the large price difference.

Thanks!

Nemo Sport is plastic versus the stainless steel Nemo Excel.

The Excel also has the ability to change many of the settings, ie Salt vs Fresh Water, Partial Pressure of O2 for Nitrox dives, switch between Imperial & Metric with ease. Also the Excel has Gauge Mode, so you can use your computer as a bottom timer if you get into Tech Diving, and a freedive mode.

Not too sure what else. I have the Nemo and really like it. Do not have the Sport, but have a ScubaPro Extender, which seems to have the same software as the Nemo Sport (we sell the Sport in our shop and the menu, at a glance, seems to be the same as my extender).

Thanks for the input. I am fairly new to diving, so I don't know what functions will be important to me long term. Can the freedive function be used for snorkeling? What exactly does it do? I don't do tech diving at this time. Is that the only use for the bottom timer? Sorry for the stupid questions. I am still learning.
