Location: San Juan Rock out of Dana Point
Date:March 3, at 19:00
Dive Time:62 minutes
Vis:12-15
Wave height:huge wind waves up to 4 feet, 6 foot sets, nice and calm below.
Water Temp:56 at 30'
MAX Depth:33'
Comments: We had to use 2 anchors last night to hold the boat in place, it was rockin and rollin. Vis was waaaayyy better than I thought it would be with at least 12 foot vis. We didnt catch any leagal bugs, but we did find a sail boat mast that looked new. I also found a really cool wood boomerang. Who knows how that got there? We saw a huge sheephead, batray with no tail, a pile of about 50 golf balls, and a lobster trap that had the biggest tuna head in it for bait.
Anywhoo, it was a great dive with an almost full moon.

Dove -- Divers Cove --Laguna
Thursday Night
6 of us met at 6:30pm
Waves were nothing 1/2- 1 foot
Vis- When there was backscatter it was bad- due to my 18 watt HID
But once we got to the reef I couldnt see past the light beam- so in places 20
feet
Water Temp - Didnt look - Dry suits on everyone probably 56 something like that
Max depth 25 feet
Run time-oh sorry- Bottom Time- 40 minutes

Saw a family of Bat Rays
Huge lobster next to an EEL
Really nice dive- had to cut it short due to technical problems with one of the divers
40 minutes any ways isnt bad...

Joe, if that lobster and eel were in the crevice they've been there for a few years. Yao Ming doesn't have arms long enough to reach back in that hole to get that bug.

Dove Yellowtail point and the rock quary Friday night. Viz was only limited by the dive light. Got two keepers sitting in the sand at Yellowtail point. Good dinner tonight. Lobster and Sierra Nevada.
Water temp was about 55

LOL- But I dont think they were really worried too much about getting taken- at least I hope not - it is a reserve there.

Location:Montage Resort (Treasure Island)
Date:March 06, 2004
Dive Time:&:54 a.m. 56:30 minutes
Vis: 10-12 feet
Wave height: 2-4 inches if that
Water Temp: 57 Suunto degrees
MAX Depth:47 FSW
Nearest High Tide:8:32 a.m. 5.8 ft
Nearest Low Tide:2:28 a.m. 1.2 ft

Comments: Entered at the first stairs from the parking lot and swam out just a few feet (50 or so) and dropped down in 15 FSW. Surge was working against us (tide coming in) and was about 2-3 feet, but did make swimming in some areas with tall walls around you more of a challenge. Saw the usual suspects.

Location:300 yards off the Dana Point bouy
Date:March 07, 2004
Dive Time:9:00
Vis: 20+
Wave height: 6"
Water Temp: 54 at 90'
MAX Depth:90'

We attempted to look for any whales passing near us in 90' off the Dana Point bouy. We dropped down to 90' and waited for 25 minutes before ascending. We didn't have any luck spotting any of the passing whales. Vis was fantastic with at least 20'. After we were back in the boat, 3 whales passed by really slowly. Such an awsome thing to see this close to shore.

Laters,

Unbelievable vis last night. At least 40'. It was also Lake Pacific. 90 minute total dive time. I was able to grab 1 nice bug while my two buddies gabbed 4 between them both. Since I allready learned my lesson about bug measuring last month, I made sure my bug was way over the minimum size requirements. But of course my buddies didn't, and you guesed it, Mr. Dual Pistol Packing DFG was hiding in the shaddows on shore, licking his chops, and jumped right out at us.
Anywhoo, my buddy was ticketed for 3 short bugs, LOL.
After all the drama, it was still great to dive in those conditions, and we will be going back tonight.

Laters, Kyle

How much are those tickets? I thought they took your gear too?

First offense is $200-400 per short bug. They won't uaually take your gear unless you really broke the law big time. Like if you had 50 small bugs. Don't quote me exaclty on that though. I knew a guy that got busted with 30 short bugs. He was forced to pay $300 per bug and was given a 4 year pay plan.
