manual focus scale underwater

Manual focus underwater is a trying experience, especially under surgy conditions, with
dive gloves on. Wish that Olympus had selected something other than the menu buttons (like the
control wheel) to change focus.

Anyone know how accurate the distance scales might be underwater. Since everything looks
about 25% bigger than it really is, does this mean that one would apply a conversion factor to
the distance scale?

I don't use manual focus for the very reasons you stated - it is cumbersome and the 'enlarged' image shown in the viewfinder doesn't help much.
To answer your question, if you are focussing using just the distances on the scale in your viewfinder then, yes you will need to dial in the 'apparent' object distance (objects appear ~25% closer, ~33% larger).
Remember, if you use external strobes you will need to aim it according to the actual object distance.
