Manila hotel recommendation?

We stayed at the Kabayan Hotel, in Pasay City! Good price, very clean room, with cafeteria style breakfast included! Breakfast VERY GOOD!

I always stay at the Remington. It has a free airport shuttle, a free breakfast at the casino, and the change rate at the casino is very good.

Look most places are ok, you get what you pay for.
Best idea is to google accomodation Manila pick a booking site and put in dates and budget and area. Area will depend on what time you arrive and what you are doing the next day.
If going by bus, closer to the station, if private car south side of airport may be better. On the way back close to the airport if getting an early flight as taxis harder to get.

I've stayed at the Midas on a couple trips. It's reasonably close to the airport. However, it's a 3 star hotel that aspires to be a 4 or 5 star hotel, as the place is generally run down underneath the surface. Breakfast buffet is Ok, but dinner a la carte was a disaster the last time. Few other options were available outside the hotel, except for the mall. Reminded me of why I hate malls.

The hotel I stayed in is apparently closed now..the Intercontinental Manila...but know that traffic is bad in Manila. I was only 15 minutes from the airport, but it took me 1 hr 45 min at 130am to get to the hotel so plan ahead.

I've got a question about relative locations to the airport. Last year on layovers in Manila, we stayed before and after at the Marriott that's practically next to the airport. One would think that would allow for a relatively short drive to the terminals, but being Manila - not so much. Even allowing tons of time it seemed like we would miss a flight. (Seemed like a good idea at the time - it has free airport transfers so it wound up overall being same or cheaper than the Midas, it's very nice, plus we tend to do Marriott when we can for the rewards program.)

Midas seemed much further from the airport, but I'm wondering if the trip to the airport is actually easier because you're coming from a different direction. Basically, curious if Atlantis uses Midas because it's actually a good location for airport transfers, or because someones brother-in-law owns it, or what?

I'm not sure about whether Midas would be better or not, but I drove around Manila quite a bit with a friend from the Philippines and he said the traffic is always horrendous no matter where you are in the city...and I can vouch for that. +If you ask anyone how much time to leave for getting to the airport, they always say 4-5 hrs and frankly, most of that time is spent in traffic not waiting at the airport.

Another vote for Nichols Airport Hotel. Convenient, clean, simple and unpretentious.
