This link says he was wearing 2 oxigen tanks

I can't imagine they meant Oxygen tanks - I don't always believe everything I read. And this would be one of those times.
 
So he had zero, one, or two tanks .

Presumably filled with something.

Most swimming holes are Springs, or perhaps this was a spring that emptied into a lagoon? :idk:
