So, let's re-cap. Dowling announces to the Parks Department that Makena Landing is PK-1. They believe him without challenge even though it is not. They tell us we're all out of luck in 60 days and that the decision didn't come from their office. Is that ethical? Is that legal? Is that Pono? Is that 'dirty pool'? It sure sounds questionable to me and everyone I've spoken with about it. I think someone is trying to 'pull a fast one'.
It's a little premature and hasty to call the Director of the County Department of Parks and Recreation unethical and say she is acting illegally.

For right now we should give her the benefit of doubt and just assume that she is merely lazy, sloppy, unprofessional, and incompetent. :shakehead:

Only a few years ago Hawaii high schools added surfing to the competitive sports, and I believe there are also high school paddling teams. Seems like someone's information is slightly suspect.

If I'm not mistaken they also have paddling teams. Difficult to do that back on shore.

For those of you following this issue, here's the latest development at Makena Landing. This shot was taken yesterday, Sept. 24th, 2008, just above the parking lot. It makes me sad as I know this is the beginning of the end! I fear that it is time to kiss the peaceful environment that was once Makena, goodbye :(

Earthmover does ground work above the Makena Road for the new Papa'anui housing develpment.
