I wonder how long the "Bnscherm aparatus" will last down there? Someone could probably build half of a fill station out of it! I hope that people will leave it alone. It is quite the conversation piece...

Did anybody see the front of the Oakland Press today? A Cessna sea plane tried to land on Union Lake without pulling up the landing gear first. Came down, gear hit the water, the nose smacked the water pretty good then the tail came over the top. The pilot was fine once he got out but the paper said it sank really fast. Wouldn't it be great to get there before the salvage team.

It didn't sink at all. It was turtled, but the pontoons kept it afloat. It was all over the news last nite.

oh, didnt see the news report. Anybody else feel kind of disapointed its not sitting upright on the bottom? Guess I shouldn't let the newspaper get me so excited.

I'm just curious if the DNR allows to dump stuff into that lake.

Here if I dare to dump anything into a lake, I'll be facing big fines if I get caught in the act.

not trying to rain on your parade, just curious about it.

Good questin! Not sure what the DNR has to say but it seems to be a common practice in areas were divers frequent. I kind of look at like this if I remove one tin can, beer bottle, length of fishing line, worm container..... from the bottom every dive then every once in a great while I deserve to add something of interest. I'm interested in hearing any stories about being caught in the act while adding an underwater attraction. I imagine that the DNR isn't going to be as big a problem as people who live on the lake.

Well, it all depends, here local DNR officials are wannabe cops and use every chance they get to fine people for what ever reason they feel for, many times the local courts have to reverse the fines 'cause the ofense is ficticious, but the citizen gets shafted by loosing time and money defending a non existing ofense.

I guess that it all depends on the area.

I didn't mean that DNR officers were toothless just spread pretty thin. I imagine that it would be more likely that a resident would see you than a DNR officer.

We got blown out of Sanilac yesterday, and decided to dive Maceday instead. We parked at the top of the hill and walked down the trail this time. I think there must be more than one trail and we took the bad one, because it was brutal. I was carrying doubles and wasn't sure if I was going to make it. The water is still 40'F on the bottom, and it feels colder than that because it's so hot outside. The vis wasn't any good, either.

Someone moved the aparatus and put it inside the bowrider.
