Does anyone have any information on what is in Maceday Lake? A buddy and I dive there every once in a while, and it looks like someone has been adding lines on the bottom. There is a ski boat at about 70ft that we have visited often, but there are also two lines leading off of the boat. This last weekend we followed the line that heads more towards the center of the lake down to 105' without finding the end (vis was awesome below 30 ft.) How deep do these go and what's down there? We're planning on getting some eanx and following it a little further by taking a more direct route to the bottom in the next couple weekends.

One of those lines goes clear across the lake. It was put down about 2 years ago by Brando and Scot aka The Scubaguys. I think they used a scooter and a VERY LARGE reel.

We used to attach lift bags to that boat and move it around-just for something to do. I really like diving in that lake, but access is a bit of a pita.

where is this lake??

The best place we've found to park for doing this dive is along Maceday Lake Rd. on the West side of Maceday Lake. There is a little dirt turn off area on the West side of the road where you can gear up and leave your car, you'll know you've found it if there are a bunch of no parking signs (These are just recommendations by the local law enforcement and should not be taken seriously) Rumor has it that the signs were put up by the DNR and are therefore not enforced by the local police department; I've never gotten a ticket nor talked to anyone who has. After gearing up and succesfully dodging traffic while crossing the road you'll have to step over a guard rail where you will find a small foot path down to the water. You'll have about 10ft of waste deep water until it drops steeply off to about 70ft. When you first submerge angle a little off to your left and you'll find a rowboat at 15ft. with a line tied off to it that goes down to the ski boat. As I mentioned earlier there are two lines off the back of the ski boat that go deeper, as well as a vertical ascent line that doesn't go all the way to the surface, but makes a good place for doing safety stops.

That's where we've entered also. I'm not so sure about ignoring the no parking sign though....

& it's not the most fun walk down to the water. Just wasn't my cup of tea so I haven't dove there in years. Will have to try again.

Wasn't there also a armor knight down there?

Just had another thought.... there used to be a locked parking area that one could obtain the key to. Anyone know anything about it?

Also, can't one dive from the boat launch? & actually park there when it's not boating season?

My notes on Maceday say it's 'easiest' to dive from a boat given the parking / enty locations. Might be somewhere to talk the Tiny Bubbles captain into buddying up! ;)

You can dive from the launch, but it's a long swim to the speedboat.

I don't remember any amored knight!!!

I'll call some buddies this week to help jog my memory. There was some rumored item but I dont' think that was the suit of armor. Will report back what I learn.

But, what about the gated parking area - know anything about that?
