i made a copy paste here into one. guys add to it and try to keep your posts limited to terms and terminologies we use here around the P.I. , local dialaects are welcome. i sure would like to pick-up a few southern terms. gi hambal kita !

Pawikan : sea turtle
bahura : underwater reef / mountain , one of the best places to dive
Laot : sea ward
Habagat : South west winds
(calm sea on the east side of the island, rough on west side)
Amihan : North Easterly winds
(calm seas on the west side of the island, makes the pacific side for Surfing)
pusit : squid, cuttlefish
Pating : shark
bangka : dive boat (hehehhehe)
bangkero : dive boat captain
(but its the DM and the Instructor that gets to Boss around)
bubu : fish traps deep underwater, (nasty piece of contraption, very simple yet very effective !!! )
Tulong : Help
Tubig : water
Dagat : sea
Alat : salty
Sea Urchin : ah this crawlie has lots of coloquial names .....
Mabuhay : just don't use this , smile na lang , hehehhehehehe
"patay" = dead
"bumula" = bubbled
"muntik na" = almost
"inuman na...." = no more diving
