Includes 3al tanks prior to 1990. 3al spec was amended to prohibit new 6351 tanks but there were some 3al tanks made with 6351 by Walter Kidde and luxfer

Thanks, @runsongas, I kinda figured there might be some old (pre-1990) 3AL specs out there that allowed the 6351 alloy - especially those written before the appearance of the "sustained load cracking" phenomena. Thanks for the link.

Called Luxfer. Lady did not know. Was supposed to call me back.

Will try them again tomorrow.

Luxfer called me back and said it was 6351 alloy because it was made in 86 and they didn't transition to 6061 until 87-88.

However, this model tank does not appear in their published list of models and transition dates.

It took them a day of "research" to figure out that response so I kind of feel like they don't actually know and are playing it safe. I don't blame them though as this stuff happened 30 years ago.
