Just a quick note as to why I WILL be purchasing online in Australia a zeagle 911 retails for $1386 US and a Zeagle Tech for $1167 US I can get the 911 for $490 us plus postage from leisure pro & the Tech for $440 us these are savings of $896 US and $727 US respectively huge incentives to purchase online, better still when scuba.com will match the price and provide warranty.
Who wouldn't shop online with these deals. (unless of course I am missing something huge)

Don't you guys down there have massive tax and import fees to pay, negating most of that huge savings you expect?
As well as lenghty time delays in customs?

We ship a lot to Australia - including the Zeagle BCs..... And based on what one of our customers told us, if the invoice amounts are below $750 - their isn't much in duty and taxes. I'm not there... so I don't know, but we had one customer order up about $2000 worth of gear, and since it had to go in several boxes anyway, we ran a seperate invoice for each box - making sure they were below $750. I don't know if that helps... but it's what the customer wanted.

Shipping stuff to Australia - generally if a mailed parcel is below $1000 AUD (about $720 USD at the moment), it will either be delivered with nothing to pay, or held at the post office until you pay GST - which is a 10% tax. It's a bit hit & miss - around $500 USD or so, you start getting tax notices. Under that, it generally just gets delivered. If it's over $1000 AUD, it requires customs clearance, which adds around 5% duty, as well as the expense of a customs broker (add another $100-$150 AUD).

If it comes in by UPS, DHL, Fedex, etc - the customs clearance cutoff is a much lower $250 USD.

USPS surface mail is the biggest holdup - they quote 4-6 weeks - I can tell you from experience that it's closer to 10-14 weeks. Surface shipping from the US sucks. Air is pretty good.

Hey Planter, you can buy online WITHIN Australia too you know (cough cough see my signature cough cough).

I was browsing the internet recently, and found a website, scubadiscount.com, that appears to offer new gear for vastly discounted prices, with a manufacturers warranty because they claim to buy from other dealers. I'm looking to get a Zeagle Ranger, and they have them for $400.
I'm reluctant to purchase gear off the internet, and anything that cheap makes me suspicious, but has anyone had experience with this site, positive or negative?

I think you will find that they sell Eagle, not Zeagle - these are cheap copies of Zeagle kit.
They might work OK but I would rather be wearing the real thing - Zeagle BCDs are bomb-proof, flexible and well-proven.

Sorry... I don't carry Nemrod... and actually, have never even heard of it.

For a list of BC's we carry, you could look here: http://scubatoys.com/store/bcds/bcds.asp

(do you feel lucky punk.... quote from Dirty Harry) The Dealer is the difference .... Saving money is great but if you have a problem with the product then you're usually screwed if he's not an authorized seller. A few years ago there were a lot of Scubapro Blackhawk BCs on the internet that were bad and Scubapro did nothing because the warranty excluded "grey" market purchases. Stay with a established retailer that is an authorized dealer ..... other board members have had problems with "grey" market Zeagle BCs (see thead www.scubaboard.com/t105633-.html ) for additional information .
