I know many of you have switched to dry suits, but I wanted to add my two cents' worth regarding wetsuits.

I just dived in Maine (39 degrees!) in a layered ensemble, mostly from Henderson. In addition to a microprene dive skin, I had on a 7mm Hyperstretch one piece and a 5/3 hyperstretch hooded vest. Not only were these wicked easy to get on, but they kept me mighty warm, although our dive was kind of short. (I also had on 5mm booties and 7mm Henderson Gold Core gloves.)

The Hyperstretch keep me plenty warm (and I am infamous for having cold hands and feet), and it was sooooo easy to put on and get off. I love it!

Another tip: Polartec socks under 5mm booties work great! (I have never tried wool, though.)

Good luck picking the right gear!

Glad to see a gutsy wetsuit diver!

The hyper stretch works well just keep in mind that the outer layer is less abrasion resistant than standard wetsuits ( lots of lycra less nylon) so watch out for sharp stuff. :)

Enjoy your suit....don't you love having a new piece of gear :D

I just got my Henderson Hyperstretch shorty today and it is the most comfortable wetsuit I have ever worn!
